Siberian Internationale

Legend has it that a team of Soviet engineers led by "Mr. Azakov" drilled a 14.4 km deep hole in the facility Kola Superdeep SG-3, placed on Kola peninsula in Siberia before reaching a cavity. Intrigued by this unexpected discovery, they lowered an extremely heat-resistant microphone and other sensory devices into the borehole. The temperature at this depth was 1,000 °C, and the heat emanated from a fiery chamber from which screams could be heard.
